Michele Levy is a fashion entrepreneur and co-founder of Ilhabela Holdings, which has the exclusive distribution rights of Melissa Shoes in the US. In less than five years, Michele and her team have built the Melissa brand up from relative obscurity into leading brand in its category in the US and Caribbean markets. Melissa retails today in the USA in more than 500 points of sale, including the country’s most prestigious boutiques and department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Shopbop, Nordstrom, and many others. Additionally, Michele is leading a fast and successful retail expansion, having completed 12 retail stores in the last 18 months.
In addition to the commercial accomplishments, while at Melissa, Ms. Levy built competitive and fruitful retail and marketing initiatives that led to its leading position today. She is responsible for initiating and implementing exclusive brand collaborations with well-known fashion designers, nationwide retail chains, and more including Jason Wu.
Prior to her involvement with Melissa, Michele was Senior Director at the Americas Society/Council of the Americas, an organization founded by David Rockefeller to promote trade, investment and a political and policy discourse on Latin America. Ms. Levy was recruited by the CEO Susan Segal to assist in the turnaround of the organization through personnel, financial and strategic changes.
Before joining the /COA, Mrs. Levy worked for 10 years at Chase/JPMorgan in its investment banking, capital markets, project finance. Her last assignment was with Chase Capital Partners/JPMorgan Partner private equity fund, where Mrs. Levy was responsible for overseeing more than $100MM in investments in Brazil, Mexico, and other countries in the region.
A French-Brazilian national , Ms. Levy has a degree in Economics from the Universidade de Sao Paulo (FEA) and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She lives in NYC and has one daughter, Alexandra, and a dog, Ginger. Her favorite hobby is to hang out.
