Claire Lee is the Head of Silicon Valley Bank’s Early Stage Practice – the team dedicated to working with founders, entrepreneurs and seed funded startups. Claire’s team heads up SVB strategic partnerships with leading technology companies and industry groups that support founders at the early stage, including Stripe Atlas.
Claire joined SVB in January 2014 from Microsoft where she led global partnerships for Microsoft’s Emerging Business team and helped establish the Microsoft BizSpark program in 2008. Prior to joining SVB, Claire’s last project at Microsoft was to help establish Microsoft Ventures in 2013. As a Principal in the seed fund, Claire was evaluating and investing in early stage startups, and helping form partnerships with the organizations that incubate, invest in and scale startups.
Claire was an advisor to the U.S. State Department during the Obama administration, travelling to Nairobi in 2015 with a delegation of U.S. investors with President Obama. She was a critical part of the team that delivered GES (Global Entrepreneurship Summit) in Silicon Valley in 2016 thanks to a deep partnership with the White House.
Passionate about inclusion and education, in 2017 Claire joined the boards of directors of the Galvanize Foundation, focused on the education of excluded cohorts of the population, and FreeFrom – an organization dedicated to supporting victims of domestic violence.
