Deputy Chief Health Officer, Watson Health
Dr. Lisa Latts is Deputy Chief Health Officer at Watson Health. Her area of focus is on using cognitive computing to improve the health care delivery system and value-based care, as well as improve health care quality. Prior to this, she was the Principle of LML Health Solutions, a healthcare quality and delivery system transformation consulting firm, which focused on strategies to make high quality, patient-centric health care affordable and accessible. She was also the Chief Medical Officer for the self-insured health plans at the University of California. As CMO, she was responsible for ensuring that UC faculty and employees receive the highest quality care at an affordable price.
Dr. Latts started her administrative career on the payer side. She served as Vice President for Public Health Policy and Programs in Vice President for Clinical Excellence with Anthem, Inc. (WellPoint,) where she was responsible for their quality strategy, which included initiatives to measure and improve member and public health, promote health equity, patient safety, and collaborate with strategic partners to improve health and wellness. She was instrumental in developing many of their value based payment and delivery system reform initiatives such as the Patient Centered Medical Home, Pay for Performance, Centers of Excellence, and International Medical Tourism.
Dr. Latts is a national leader in health quality and health policy and is currently chair of the NCQA Standards Committee and co-chair of the Cost and Resource Use committee for the National Quality Forum. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Denver Health Medical Plan and Wildflower Health. She has also served as a Commissioner for the National Commission on Physician Payment Reform, and as a member of the National Advisory Council for AHRQ.
Dr. Latts is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and on faculty at the University of Colorado specializing in medical complications of pregnancy. She received her MD from the University of Minnesota, an executive MBA from the University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business and a MSPH from the University of Colorado.
